Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21, 1983) is a well-known American actress. Most notably, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost television show, as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington in Ohio, left high school in order to move in Los Angeles after her divorced parents. In 2001, despite her financial struggles, she was able to secure her first big performance in the video online show Rachel's Room as the lead character. The role she played of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. film Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost on which she was a main cast member for the first two seasons winning an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character on The Fog, in 2005. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 and in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost in the series, which included the conclusion. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in Californianation, the sixth season. She plays Faith, who is the muse and fan of the stars. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens, she began to work as a small part-time actress for her father and appeared in Donnie Darko alongside her twin brother. Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (both 2002) and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. Following several commercially-successful films, including World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely in the role of Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child received her a nomination in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. In the following years, she played in comedies and dramas which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 She also played a Secret Service Agent in White House Down, an action-packed thriller released in 2013, a musician as Frank (2014), a musician Frank (2014) and The lead for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama that was released in the year of 2018. In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
